Summer School 2018: Monochromatic

Summer School 2018 is back for a second week and we couldn’t be more excited to share another week of lessons and challenges!

Understanding and internalizing different design concepts allows you to bring your ideas to life. With a little practice, these ideas will quickly become intuitive, leading your card designs to come together with minimal effort. Over the course of the next five days, we’ll bring you videos and projects designed to help you understand these basic principles and incorporate them into your own crafting.

Monochromatic designs are eye-pleasing and make it a breeze to narrow down your color palette. Today’s lesson features different ideas for incorporating a monochromatic palette into your cards as well as a great tip for comparing your card stock color options to make your final selections.

Today’s instructor is My Favorite Things Design Team member Laurie Willison. Click HERE or simply watch the video below to learn more about her process for creating this cool look featuring all die-cut elements.

Do you love that Laurie was able to very slightly modify the size of her card to perfectly accommodate her stacked stitched panels? It’s a great reminder not to get stuck on standard sizes and designs…it’s fun to let your product choices guide your design choices! Laurie’s card will still fit beautifully in an A2 envelope and her recipient won’t care about (or possibly even notice!) the difference.
